The Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the Yemeni News Agency Saba, Abdullah Hizam discussed with the Charge' d'Affaires at the Chinese embassy to Yemen Shao Zheng ways to enhance media cooperation between Saba agency and the Chinese News Agency (Xinhua).

Hizam touched on the cooperation agreement concluded between Saba Agency and Xinhua to enhance bilateral relations and mutual understanding and promote the development of journalism between the two friendly countries, which have strong relations since ancient times.

He looked forward to expanding the horizons of media cooperation with Chinese media institutions to include mutual visits and training. rehabilitation of Yemeni press personnel and support for government media institutions, especially in such circumstances that Yemen is going through, as a result of the war that the Iranian-backed Houthi militia ignited against the Yemeni people and caused the destruction of institutions, including media institutions, especially the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).

The Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Saba reviewed the situation of journalists at Saba and their suffering after the Houthi militia seized the agency's main headquarters in the capital, Sana'a, and after the militias displaced dozens of the agency's journalists, referring to cases of killing, arrests and other violations against journalists at the hands of the Houthi militia.


He pointed to the death sentences issued by the Houthi militia against a number of journalists, stressing that a number of journalists are still in the militia's prisons without any charges. He appreciated the Chinese efforts in support of Yemen in various fields.

For his part, the Chinese Charge' d'Affaires affirmed that the media is an important bridge and channel for strengthening popular ties in various countries. He referred to the possibilities of media cooperation between China and Yemen.

He referred to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Yemen and China regarding mutual translation and publication of classic works with the aim of dedicating more distinguished spiritual and cultural products for the peoples of the two countries, hoping that the media institutions in the two countries will achieve profitable results in exchanges and interactions, achieve high-quality development in cooperation, and contribute to deepening Chinese-Yemeni exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations and regions.
