Al-Eryani seeks UNESCO's support to protect Yemen's cultural heritage

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammer al-Eryani held discussions today, Monday, here in the temporary capital Aden with the Regional Director of the UNESCO to the Arabian Gulf States and Yemen Dr. Salah Khaled who is visiting Yemen now.
The conversations covered a range of topics pertaining to the protection of the cultural heritage, promoting creative cultural businesses and capacity building of the government's cultural institutions.
Al-Eryani explored the UNESCO's support for a planned proposal to preserve the Yemeni artistic heritage that has been subjected to disappearing amid current circumstances and war-time.
The Minister called on the UNESCO to establish an office of the organization in the temporary capital Aden to help further increasing the UNESCO's activities where they are urgently needed to mitigate the devastating consequences of the Houthi militias' coup upon cultural life and heritage.
