Yemen participated in the Conference on Strengthening International Cooperation to Combat Drug Smuggling and Human Trafficking, held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, and organized over a period of three days by the Spanish Police Academy in cooperation with Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, with a delegation headed by the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Muhammad bin Aboud Al-Sharif.
In our country's speech at the conference, the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior stressed that combating drug smuggling and human trafficking requires cooperation and concerted efforts of all countries, especially those countries that have material, technical and knowledge capabilities, while paying slow-developing countries or those experiencing conflicts greater interest in the fight.
He pointed out that the Republic of Yemen has been living since the ill-fated coup on September 21, 2014, and the Houthi terrorist militia's control over all the capabilities of the official state institutions has affected the decline in the fight against the scourge of drugs. Yemeni..emphasizing that the security services in the liberated governorates managed to seize many types of drugs, which were often destined for the Houthi militia and used as a type of weapon to supply their fighters who are fighting under the influence of this drug.
