His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Council, met today, Sunday, with the UN's special envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg and his Assistant Maeen Sharaim.
The session intended to explore chances to extend the UN-brokered truce amid Houthi militias' constant intransigence about the underway efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and the Yemeni peoples' suffering.
President al-Alimi reiterated the Presidential Council's and government's commitment to the fair and sustainable peace approach that is based on the terms of peace reference which agreed on, national, regional and internationally, namely the UNSCR 2216.
The President noted the Houthi militias have continued to block all peace efforts and good offices aiming to stop the bloodshed, rejecting the proposals which the government has offered significant concessions to help alleviating the humanitarian suffering all over the country including the regions have been controlled by Iran-backed militias.
Al-Alimi praised the role of the UN's envoy and the efforts has been making along with his team to establish peace and stability.
He confirmed the Presidential Council's and government's support for the underway efforts, underscoring the need to mount international pressures upon the militias to engage constructively with these efforts and to make the Yemeni peoples' interest above all.
