His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, during his meeting today, in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Chargé d'Affairs in person at our country's embassy in Kenya, Counselor Abdel Salam Al-Awadi, was briefed on the conditions of the Yemeni community in the Republic of Kenya, and the historical relations that unite our country with the Republic of Kenya, whose bases were established by the first immigrants of the people of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra governorates, and ways to strengthen and develop them, for the benefit of the members of the community.

Major General Al-Zubaidi was also briefed on the role of the United Nations Environment Program and Human Settlements office in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, the programs it implements in Yemen, and possible ways to expand its activities in these two areas and help the government side to advance them.

The member of the Leadership Council stressed the role played by our country’s embassy in the Republic of Kenya in consolidating the bilateral and historical relations that unite the two friendly countries, redoubling its efforts to serve the community and students studying in the capital, Nairobi, and overcoming the difficulties they may face in the country of expatriation.

Major General Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of the role entrusted to the chargé d'affaires in principle at our country's embassy in Kenya to draw attention to the human suffering that the country is witnessing, and to coordinate with the Kenyan side to play a greater role through its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council to push for accelerating the political process, and establishing lasting and comprehensive peace in calculation with the three references.
