The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Finance Minister discusses with US Ambassador financial, economic conditions

Minister of Finance Salem bin Buraik discussed Monday with US Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagen via visual communication latest developments of financial and economic developments and domains of absorbing support from brotherly and friendly countries to alleviate humanitarian suffering over the war in the country.

The two parties also discussed coordination and cooperation between the two countries in different fields, as well as cooperation with the USAID and Pragma Company regarding providing technical support to the ministry and its authorities and departments and capacity building of their cadre for improving their performance.

Minister bin Buraik pointed out to conditions development in the country, including finalizing institutional and restructure building of the ministry of finance, enhancing public resources and harmony between resources and income and paying salaries of government employees.

For his part, the US diplomat reconfirmed keenness of his country on continuing its support to Yemen and contribution in realizing admirable peace.
