Marib – Saba
Marib deputy governor Dr. Abd Rabbu Miftah, discussed with the coordinator of the UN's Shelter cluster in Yemen John Wain many issues related to the emergency and sustainable humanitarian response plan, especially in the field of shelter.
During the meeting, they discussed the role and interventions of humanitarian organizations within the shelter cluster to respond to the increasing emergency and sustainable needs, and the resumption of the humanitarian cash support program for some of the most needy and affected families to help them pay housing rents, which are witnessing a significant increase in the governorate due to the lack of supply and the increase in great demand.
Miftah praised the humanitarian role of the Shelter Cluster and the International Organization for Migration, even though it does not rise to the level of existing or emergency needs.
He stressed the importance of activating the role of the Shelter Cluster and its interventions more and the need for each organization to have a reserve stockpile of shelter used to cover the emergency needs of the displaced, stressing the importance of the transition of humanitarian organizations in their interventions to finding shelter that is resistant to the factors of erosion and nature and is more sustainable, as well as continuing to provide emergency shelter in tents that comply with quality and strength specifications that enable them to withstand the intense heat of the sun and extreme cold.
He stressed the keenness of the local authority to develop humanitarian partnership with various humanitarian organizations and to provide all facilities in order to alleviate the suffering of the large numbers of displaced people.
