Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fishery Wealth Salem al-Suqotri participated Tuesday via visual communications technology in a symposium on blue economic transfer and agenda of climate change in Gulf countries and Yemen held in the UAE within Expo Dubai's activities.
Gulf countries and representatives from relevant organizations and societies led by FAO participated in the symposium.
In his comments in the symposium, al-Soqotri talked about obstacles and challenges facing enhancing sustainable food security and finding quick solutions to limit these challenges and obstacles including corona pandemic and climate changes.
He reviewed situations of agriculture and fisheries in Yemen, on which more than half of Yemeni population depend on, pointing out to unprecedented humanitarian suffering and crisis in Yemen over Houthi militia's continuous war when about 16.2 percent of the population are facing lack of food security.
