Aden - Saba
The Republic of Yemen condemned, in the strongest terms, the piracy and armed robbery of the cargo ship (Rawabi), which carries the flag of the sisterly United Arab Emirates off the Hodeidah Governorate by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that "The piracy operation by the Houthi militia represents a real violation of international security and stability, the security and safety of global navigation, and is a disregard for all principles of international humanitarian law, and the San Remo Guide on International Law in Armed Conflicts at Sea and the United Nations Seas Conventions.
The statement added, "This violation requires the international community to stand up to its responsibilities towards these irresponsible terrorist actions by the Houthi militia, and this is further evidence of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia's danger to the safety of freedom of maritime navigation and international trade in the Bab al-Mandab strait and the southern Red Sea."
