Deputy Governor of Marib Abd-Rabbu Miftah presided over a meeting, included a team from the UNDP on Tuesday, for discussing preparations for implementing the Project of Boosting Institutional Economic Flexibility (PBIEF) in Yemen to be carried out by Ministry of Local Administration in cooperation with UNDP in nine provinces, including Marib.
The project will be implemented in three years.
In the meeting, which also included a number of general directors of executive offices in Marib and representatives from the concerned provinces, the Project Director Peter Vanty Pull presented definitive overview on the PBIEF to be financed by the European Union by USD 82 million.
According to Bull, the project aims at boosting capacity buildings of local authority in Marib and the five districts in every targeted province for facing humanitarian and developmental challenges.
He pointed out that Marib has been chosen in the first phase on the bases of European Union's evaluation of local authority performance in 2019 as it has been one of the best Yemeni provinces, noting that the project targets the five districts of the City, al-Wadi, Harib, al-Jouba and al-Abidia in Marib.
Earlier, Miftah reviewed humanitarian and developmental challenges facing the local authority in the province over receiving huge numbers of displaced people from different Yemeni provinces and received more than 60 percent of the displaced people across Yemen over Houthi militia's coup against the state and its war against Yemeni people.
He confirmed the role of the international community and the United Nations on helping the local authority for meeting big needs of the displaced people and the hosting community.
