RIYADH – SABA
Yemen's Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh, met on Monday, with the Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen William David Gressly.
The meeting discussed the humanitarian issues resulting from the coup and war of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia in the country.
The Vice President was briefed on the outcomes of the Coordinator's tour in a number of Yemeni governorates, to get a closer look at the different conditions of Yemeni citizens. The Vice President praised the efforts made by the Coordinator calling for more efforts to be made to alleviate the human suffering experienced by the people of the country in light of the non-stopping Houthi war.
The Vice President pointed out that the Houthi coupist militia have deliberately deepened the human tragedy and doubled the suffering of Yemenis from all subsets of the society by adopting a policy of starvation and impoverishment, harming the national economy and increasing the level of displacement, which has tuned Yemen into one of the worst humanitarian crises cases in the world.
He noted the importance of adopting more development projects and supporting food security and ensuring that various efforts are reflected in improving the level of humanitarian conditions for citizens and achieving the necessary recovery in various fields.
