PM meets US envoy, says there must be punishment and consequences on Houthi conduct
[28/07/2021 02:52]
RIYADH-SABA
Yemen's Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik has stressed the imperative of punishment and consequences that Houthis need to face as a result of their conduct.

In a meeting with the US Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking, Abdulmalik said the Houthi militia need to face the consequences of continuing to "fuel the conflict", launch "persistent attacks on civilians" in the country especially IDPs in Marib and "reject all peace initiatives."

"What we look forward to is a firm reaction by the international community and the UN toward this militia," he said.

The prime minister said the militia are also threatening the national and global peace by collaborating with other terrorist organizations and holding the dangerously decaying oil tanker of FSO hostage while barring UN maintenance technicians from getting onboard to fix it and salvage the Red Sea environment.

The prime minister also highlighted the need for supporting Yemen's economic stability and alleviating the country's humanitarian crisis.
