A meeting held Monday chaired by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Yemen’s Governor to the World Bank Dr. Afrah al-Zouba and attended by a high-level World Bank delegation led by the Bank’s Vice President for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan Ousmane Dione discussed ways to enhance partnership and expand support across development, humanitarian, service, and economic sectors in the country.

Humanitarian situation in Marib discussed

Deputy Governor of Marib Abd-Rabbu Miftah discussed Tuesday with representatives of French organization Solidarities and US Samaritan's Purse humanitarian and relief situations in the province.

Miftah talked about situations of displaced people and their necessary needs and handed them over a list of their needs and response plan's to the province in 2021.

He touched upon difficulties faced by Marib's local authority and service institutions for receiving huge numbers of displaced people and providing necessary services to displaced people in 140 camps.

He called upon the two organizations to contribute in securing needs of displaced people for alleviating their suffering, confirming necessity of coordination with the local authority for directing the two organization's support for developmental projects.

For their part, the representatives of the two organizations expressed efforts of the local authority and its continuous cooperation with international organizations working in field of humanitarian and relief field.

They provided detailed explanation on the nature of the work of the two organizations and the aims of their visit to the province, confirming their coordination with the local authority for implementing their future projects.

On the other hand, Miftah discussed with Education Coordinator at UNICEF Rania Zakhya the situation of education in the province and basic needs for improving it.

He praised interventions of the organization in Marib during the past period, calling for providing more support and doubling humanitarian interventions in the future.

For her part, the UN official reviewed UNICEF's projects in Marib during the past period, showing readiness to coordinate the leadership of the education's office for preparing joint work plan for implementing its projects in the future.
