Yemen minister warns of imminent humanitarian crisis in Marib

Yemen’s Information Minister has warned of an imminent humanitarian crisis in the governorate of Marib against the backdrop of a Houthi senseless war to capture the eastern city.

Muammar al-Eryani said in a statement to Saba the embattled governorate hosts 90 IDPs camps where 60% of Yemen’s overall war refugees have settled since the conflict broke out in March 2015.

Al-Eryani pointed to recent reports from the Executive Unit for IDPs which “documented the re-displacement of 1180 families from 6-15 February after the Houthi militia directed shelled the IDP camps of Alzoor, Alhyal, Alsawabeen, Lafaj Almelhand Wadi Alateef.”

“The Houthi militia launched tareted attacks at IDPs in Alzoor camp which houses 570 families, which forced some of them to depart again toward the city of Marib.”
