Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Afrah al-Zouba discussed today with Acting UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Laurent Bukera the latest developments and the repercussions of the recent escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation between the Yemeni government and the United Nations to address humanitarian and development needs.

Al-Aoud: information, technical support for Indian Ocean country imperative to counter coronavirus

RIYADH - SABA
Under-Secretary of Foreign Ministry Ambassador Aowsan al-Aoud underscored the importance of providing the countries of the Indian Ocean with necessary information and technical support to able to respond effectively to counter coronavirus pandemic, beside assisting them to get anti-coronavirus vaccines.

His statement came as he contributed to the 20th ministerial meeting of the Indian Ocean countries, held via video conference, hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

Al-Aoud touched upon the natural disasters hit the Island of Socotra and eastern coast of Yemen over the recent years, citing Yemen's need for necessary capacities to cope with such natural disasters.

He confirmed Yemen's support for the request by Saudi Arabia and Russia to join the Association of the Indian Ocean countries as dialogue partners as this is will be a significant addition to the Association of the Indian Ocean Countries in the domains of common interests.
