The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Assa'adi, Representative of the Saint Vincent to the UN discuss peace developments in Yemen

The Republic of Yemen's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Abdullah Assa'adi met Monday here with the Permanent Representative of the Saint Vincent and Grenadines to the UN Ambassador Inga Rhonda King who is going to assume the rotating presidency of the International Security Council next month, November.

The virtual meeting aimed to discuss the latest developments about the UN-led peace process in Yemen.

Assa'ad stated that the Yemeni government is committed to support the efforts of the special envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen Martin Griffiths. He indicated that Houthi militia has continued to block peace efforts and escalate its war on the Yemeni people.

Assa'adi cited the government's efforts to put Riyadh Agreement in place, appreciating the significant role of the Saudi Arabia in accelerating the implementation of the agreement.

He also touched upon Safer oil tanker's problem, blaming Houthi militia for denying the UN team access to the tanker to make necessary maintenance and unload the oil.

Ambassador Rhonda King promised to do her utmost effort upon assuming the UNSCR presidency to make progress about Safer tanker.
