Shabwa soon to switch to gas-fired power, says governor

Shabwa governor Mohammed bin Edei said his province will soon switch from diesel-fired to gas-fired power as a radical solution to the problem of electricity shortage.

He unveiled the plan to the press in a meeting with Electricity officials in the provincial capital Ataq today.

He said the local authorities will keep connecting more remote areas in the province to the power grid and rehabilitating the network of power lines.
