Al-Awej, UNDP discuss first term plan

The second meeting of the United Nations Development Program's Board discussed Monday through video conference implementation of the program's plan and the financial situation for the first term of 2020.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Najeeb al-Awej and donors of the program participated in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed implementation of the social and economic frame to Yemen for facing challenges resulted from corona virus and transferring towards a plan for economic and development recovery on the bases of coordination and managing foreign assistances.

Minister al-Awej reviewed the political and economic situations of Yemen, praising the program's efforts for providing developmental support to Yemen in exceptional conditions require quick assistance for tackling war's effects and corona pandemic repercussions.

He stressed significance of commencing developmental projects in Yemen via limiting dependence on relief aid and consideration of continuous support from donors.

He pointed out that the social and economic framework, which is being prepared in cooperation with the program represents good chance for transferring from emergency relief phase into developmental phase.
