NEW YORK-SABA
The Chief of the United Nations Antonio Guterres voiced his concerns about death sentences issued by Houthi putschist militia in Sana'a against four Yemeni journalists.
He stated that he urged Houthi militia to take immediate measures to revoke the execution verdicts against the four journalists, release them along with all journalists who have been held hostages or prisoners in the militia's detention centers.
Guterres remarks came in his reply to a letter he received from the Secretary General of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) Mohammed Shubaita.
The UN Secretary General expressed deep sorrow for the suffering of the Yemeni journalists who have to pay high price for doing their job amid extremely dangerous environment in Yemen where more than 30 journalists were killed since 2015.
" The murder of the journalist Nabil al-Qaeiti is one more example of the exceptional risks facing the Yemeni journalists while doing their job", said Guterres.
