FM, UN's envoy dis cuss peace efforts

Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadrami and Special Envoy of the UN-Secretary General to Yemen Martin Griffiths sit-down together Wednesday to discuss the latest developments about the efforts to push peace and review Stockholm Agreement one year later of signing it.

Al-Hadarmi reiterated the government's stance in support of peace efforts to establish sustainable peace based on the three well known terms of reference. He affirmed that the only way to make peace is through the UN.

He blamed Houthis for not carrying out their own obligations under Stockholm Agreement, demanding the UN to press for implementing Hodeidah agreement as this is pre-requisite to make changes on the ground and move forward to further consultations.

The discussions also touched upon the pressing need to repair electricity network supplies in Taiz. Al-Hadrami asked the UN's support to help transmitting electricity from power generate station in Mukha to Taiz and Ibb.

There are some 70 area controlled by the militiamen where power supplies wires are running through. As many as 480 thousands of subscribers in Taiz and Ibb are desperately waiting for reinstating electricity service.

For his part, Mr Griffiths has affirmed his continuous efforts to push peace process ahead, citing some constructive outcomes have been realized particularly about Hodeidah seaport's revenues that work is in progress to work out a mechanism to pay the employees salaries.
