NEW YORK-SABA
Permeant Representative of Republic of Yemen Ambassador Abdullah Assa'di met on Friday with the Under-Secretary of Secretary General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo.
The discussions focused on the government's efforts to establish sustainable peace based on the three terms of reference including GCC's Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue and International Security Council's resolutions in relevant, namely 2216.
The conversations also touched upon the recent developments about the implementation of Hodeidah agreement. Assa'di blamed Houthi militia for keeping on foot-dragging, refusing to carry out its obligations stipulated in Stockholm Agreement about Hodeidah, particularly the withdrawal from Hodeidah city and seaports.
He also noted that Houthi militia has continued to reject to allow a UN's team access to Safer floating oil reservoir, contains one million and one hundred and forty barrels of crude oil, though it is in dire need of maintenance.
Assa'di condemned the Iranian regime for recognizing Houthi militant militia's representative as Ambassador to Tehran though the Republic of Yemen cut-off diplomatic relations with Iran on October 2,2015. However, the Iranian government handed over Yemen's embassy premises to the militia, enabling its representative to act in the name of a sovereign state member of the UN; violating Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.
For her part DiCarlo emphasized on the importance of reaching a political settlement and supporting the efforts of the UN's Special Envoy to Yemen.
