His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

SP stresses importance of British role in supporting Riyadh Agreement

Speaker of the Parliament Sultan Al-Barakani stressed the importance of the British role to support the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement between the government and the Southern Transitional Council in such a way that unites efforts to advance the political process and reach a comprehensive political solution that meets the aspirations of the Yemenis according to the three terms of reference.

Al-Barakani made the remarks during a meeting today with the political advisor at the British Embassy in Yemen, Ishtiaq Ghafouri to discuss the latest developments on the national scene.

He noted the great role played by the leadership of Saudi Arabia in brokering this agreement, which is considered a key step in ending the coup and restoring the Yemeni state.

For his part, the British diplomat expressed his wishes for the success of the deal, reiterating Britain's support for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in Yemen.
