Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani met on Thursday with the Charged' Affairs of US embassy in Yemen Junaid Munir.
The session intended to discuss Yemeni-American bilateral relations, the latest developments Yemen has seen and the efforts to achieve peace.
The discussions also touched upon underway efforts to make Riyadh's accord successful step to fix the political process in Yemen and push forward the good offices aiming to establish comprehensive peace that is based on the three terms of reference including the GCC's Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue and UNSCRs, namely 2216.
Al-Barakani praised the American role in supporting Yemen, its legal leadership headed by President Hadi and the peace efforts to re-establish security and stability in Yemen. He also underlined the importance of the US support to implement Riyadh's agreement.
Al-Barakani pointed to the efforts made by the Saudi leadership to reach the Riyadh's accord to maintain the recent events in the temporary capital Aden, highly appreciating Saudi Arabia's support for Yemen and the Yemeni people.
For his part, the American diplomat reiterated the US administration's support for the efforts aiming to make peace, re-establish stability in Yemen and preserve Yemen's unity and its territorial integrity.
He also stated that the US is ready to contribute toward implementing the Riyadh's agreement, praising the Saudi role in reaching this accord.
