[22/10/2019 05:29]

RIYADH-SABA
Prime Minister Ma'een Abdulmalik discussed Tuesday with Swedish Envoy to Yemen Peter Semenby developments in Yemen and Houthi hindrance and delay of implementing Stockholm Agreement on Hodeida.

Abdulmalik praised the role played by Sweden for reaching to the agreement and keenness on realizing peace and stability in Yemen and ending the war triggered by Houthi rebel militia.

He pointed out that Stockholm Agreement represented serious test to Houthi militia's wills for reaching permanent peace and realizing security and stability in Yemen and proved that Houthis are just mere tools for implementing Iran's agenda in the region and used for international pressures.

He reconfirmed government's keenness and commitment for reaching permanent peace in accordance with the three agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.

He confirmed that this requires international and UN support and putting more pressures by the Security Council on Houthis for implementing international resolutions and agreements they committed to, the recent one was in Sweden.

He stressed serious actions towards Houthi obstacles for not implementing Stockholm Agreement and its economic chapter, pointing to initiatives and concessions presented by the government for implementing peace but are faced by Houthi rejection and insistence on deepening humanitarian crisis and trading with citizens' suffering for political gains.

For his part, the Swedish Envoy confirmed continuous support from his country and exerting efforts for implementing Stockholm Agreement and keenness on realizing peace in Yemen.
