On the sidelines of the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly held in Belgrade, Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament discussed with the head of the delegation of the Chinese National People's Congress, the Vice Chairman of NPC Foreign Affairs Committee, Hon. Chen Guomin, the bilateral relations and areas of cooperation between parliaments. And activate parliamentary diplomacy.

Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani praised the sincere and clear position of China in supporting the Yemeni government led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and Chinese keenness on Yemen's security, stability, unity and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of continuous and direct communication between the parliaments of the two countries.

For his part, the Chinese official affirmed the deep historical relations between the two friendly countries, reiterating China's firm support to the legitimate Yemeni government and rejecting the use of violence to achieve political goals.
