Saudi Arabia provides $ 500 million to support Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan

Saudi Arabia today announced that it will provide $ 500 million to support the 2019 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan.

This came during a high-level ministerial conference on the humanitarian response in Yemen in the presence of US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs David Hill and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Mark Lokoc and UN envoy Martin Griffiths and the heads of a number of international organizations.

In a speech at the meeting, Yemen's Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadhrami expressed Yemen's appreciation for donors' efforts to alleviate suffering in Yemen through contributions to the 2019 UN Humanitarian Response Plan, led by Saudi Arabia.

He pointed to the difficulty of the humanitarian situation in Yemen due to Iranian expansionist warfare that has undermined the security and stability in the region, pointing out that the strong position of the Coalition to support the government and the Yemeni people to face the consequences of the coup of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.

Al-Hadhrami stressed that the Stockholm Agreement should not be bypassed and that Houthi implementation of their end of the deal is required as a precondition for any future consultations.
