The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

The National Committee to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations (NCIAHRV) discussed Tuesday with the Commander of Taiz Pivot Major General Samir al-Hajj human rights issues in the province and the role of the military apparatus in achieving effective protection of human rights.

The two parties also discussed implementing international accords, especially abiding by humanitarian law during military operations and cooperation between the security and military role in achieving security and stability in a manner that does not contradict all human rights.

Member of the Committee Ishraq al-Maqtari reviewed the committee's objective from communication with military and security bodies on human rights violations allegations by military personnel for ensuring eradication of all forms of violations.

For his part, al-Haj welcomed the National Committee's team, expressing his appreciation for the positive role it plays in investigation violations against civilians in Taiz province through effective presence in the regions, and the National Army's belief in the role of institutions working in the field of human rights and civil society.

He showed keenness of the pivot and all other brigades in Taiz on implementing human rights principles.

He stressed the interest of the leadership of the pivot to respond to the memos of the committee and facilitate its field visit to all detentions in order to ensure access to the truth and help the military and security units to perform their work as demanded.
