RIYADH-SABA
Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Ahmed al-Maysari praised the armed forces in Shabwa for putting down the rebellion of separatist fighters and preventing the eastern Yemen province from sliding into violence.
In a phone conversation with the province's governor and top military officials, he thanked the armed forces for preventing the Shabwani Elite and the Southern Transitional Council, two separatist militias, from taking public offices in the provincial capital in a bid to capture the province.
The separatists had, on August 11, captured the temporary capital Aden to the south at the start of their expansionist rebellion, copying the Iran-backed Houthi coup in the north.
