VP appreciates Chinese support to Yemen's government
[19/03/2019 02:16]
RIYADH-SABA
Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh appreciated the support of China, as a UN Security Council permanent member, to Yemen's government.

In a meeting with the Chinese ambassador to Yemen Kang Yong, the Vice President emphasized the Yemeni government's positive reaction towards the calls of friendly countries and proposals of the United Nations for entering peace talks with the Houthi rebels. He cited the government's engagement in the Stockholm talks and agreement which Houthis dishonored its terms including the withdrawal from Hodeidah port city.

The Vice President noted that the lack of international pressure on the Houthis allowed them to persist in sabotaging peace talks and agreements in disregard to the mediation efforts exerted to lift the suffering of the Yemeni people.

He renewed the commitment on the government's end to alleviate the humanitarian suffering and facilitating the passage of WFP assistance deliveries.

The Vice President acquainted the Chinese diplomat on the latest genocides the Houthis committed against a tribe known as Hajoor in Yemen's north amidst an unjustified international silence.

On his part the Chinese ambassador affirmed his government's support to the Yemeni government and the efforts to implement the Stockholm Agreement as per the three terms of reference for peace in Yemen; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UN Security Council resolutions mainly resolution no. 2216 (2015).
