The Economic Committee has suspended a control mechanism on importing basic commodities to the Yemeni ports, to allow an easier import by traders and supply of such commodities to the local markets.
The suspension decision was made at the request of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce to allow a better flow of commodities to the country to mitigate the impact of the humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi coup and insurgency.
The mechanism would require suppliers to first obtain approvals from the Committee's technical office before importing . The Committee said its suspension is indefinite.
