President al-Alimi convenes meeting of government, local authorities

National Commission of Inquiry visits Bir Ahmed reformatory

The National Commission of Inquiry into allegations of human rights violations visited the Beer-Ahmed reformatory in Aden on Wednesday and looked into the situations of the prisoners there.

The Commission listened to a number of prisonerslaying their demands; the implementation of court-issued orders to release some of them; bringing those who have charges against them to court quickly; subjecting those who should be interrogated to interrogation at the hand of the Criminal Investigation Police; and treatment of the psychologically ill prisoners.

The Commission members assured the prisoners of their understanding of their demands and their commitment toconvey the prisoners' demands to the competent authorities and to follow up onany abuses they may be subjected to.
