Awadhi, UNHCR discuss situation of Yemeni refugees in Kenya

The Charge d'Affairs of the Yemeni Embassy in Nairobi Abdulsalam Al-Awadhi discussed with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kenya, Raouf Mazu the situation of the Yemeni refugees in Kenya and the difficulties they face.

Al-Awadhi stressed that the embassy is ready to cooperate with UNHCR on this issues and appreciated the UNHCR's service to Yemeni refugees in Kenya and different parts of the world.

On his part, Mazou said that the organization is registering refugees in cooperation with the Kenyan government and will continue to communicate with the Kenyan government to facilitate the registration of Yemeni refugees and that the UNHCR will make every effort to help them.

Separately, Al-Awadhi met the Director of the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya and briefed her on the latest developments in Yemen including the government's decision to proceed with the liberation of Hodeidah province from the Houthi rebels' hands..

The meeting also discussed the situation of Yemenis in Kenya and the facilitation of entry of Yemenis to the country.
