The Saudi air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile fired by Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia toward the kingdom's territories . The defenses spotted another missile that landed 100 kilometers in an unpopulated desert area south of the capital Riyadh.
The spokesman for the Coalition forces Col. Turki al-Maliki said in a press statement on Wednesday that: "The two missiles were heading toward Riyadh as they had been deliberately launched to target the civilian and populated areas.
He said, "This hostile action by the Houthi militia proves the continued involvement of the Iranian regime in supporting the Houthi armed group with qualitative capabilities in a clear and explicit defiance of the UN resolution no. 2216 and resolution no. 2231."
He said that these violations threaten the Saudi, regional and international securities, and that "firing ballistic missiles at populated cities and villages is a violation of the international humanitarian law."
