Yemen and Saudi Arabia signed on Monday a memo of understanding for supplying Yemeni ports with cranes and installing them in ports of Aden, Mukalla and Mocha within humanitarian process inclusive plan.
Yemen's Minister of Public Work and RoadsMaeenAbdulmalik and Deputy Head of Saudi Fund for Development Yousof al-Bassam singed the memo.
The cranes-which will work on output of 60 tons a day for each- will contribute of aid influx to Yemeni people in accordance with the UN humanitarian response plan in Yemen.
The project is in the framework of efforts for increasing capacity of Yemeni ports. The World Food Program and the US Agency for International Development installed four craneslast month at Hodeida Port.
Minister Abdulmalik, who is also the Deputy Head of Yemeni-Saudi Coordination Committee, made it clear that the handover of the cranes under the current crisis and lack of stability clearly suggests intention of the Arab Coalition for implementing the humanitarian process inclusive plan for alleviating suffering of Yemeni people.
He praised Saudi support to Yemen in different fields and commitment to the plan.
For his part, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, who is the General Director of Humanitarian Process in Yemen Mohammad al- Jaber,said the human inclusive plan aims at providing basic relief and humanitarian substances, like medicines, food and shelter as short run objective and other objectives in fields of development and infrastructure.
He pointed out that the memo will be followed by other treaties in humanitarian field and will contribute in promoting basic development in Yemeni ports and increasing their capabilities, which will be reflected on development and economic growth and trade.
The plan will provide working opportunities to Yemeni laborer in indirect way as it will double trade activity across Yemen and will encourage economic competence, said al-Jaber.
