Wethaq foundation finishes rehabilitating 40 child soldiers

Wethaq Foundation for Civic Orientation has wrapped up training 40 child soldiers formerly conscripted and enlisted in the Houthi armed militia to fight against the government.

The NGO organized a ceremony on Saturday attended by Marib's local authority officials and human rights officials to celebrate the children'sreadiness to reintegrate into schools. The children, including five members of the marginalized Akhdam community, arefrom Amran and Taiz and had arrested by the army in previous fighting.

The sponsor of the rehabilitation is King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid and this is the second stage of the rehab program. The first phase rehabilitated the same number of children from Marib and Aljawf.

The children's parents were educated about the hazards of child recruitment to armed participations in conflicts.
