TAIZ-SABA
The Deputy Governor of Taiz for Health Affairs Dr. Elan Abdul-Haq said on Wednesday that nine cases of diphtheria infections were recorded in Taiz, the city under the Houthi-Saleh rebel militias' siege for three years.
In a statement to Saba, she said that medical teams recorded the infections in the districts of Mokha, Maqbanah, Salah and Shammayatein.
She said that the Health Ministry branch office directed the districts' local health offices to report any new cases to the vaccination centers and roving vaccination teams to take actions including in raising awareness about the prevention of the disease.
The Iran-aligned rebel militias are using siege tactics around Taiz and some suburbs of the city to cut the population off medical provisions, among other life-sustaining aid and commercial goods.
