Governor of Socotra Ahmad al-Socotri launched Monday the fifth phase of cash for work project on rehabilitating millet plants with support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The fifth phase of the project, which is being implemented in partnership with the local authority, environment authority and agricultural office, aims at reviving traditional millet plantation and improving locals' income.
Al-Socotri praised the role of GIZ and variation of its development programs, which are helping people and have big impact on protecting environment and flora, Socotra Archipelago is categorized with.
He noted that the local authority is keen on following up efforts of international organizations in the island and works on easing their duties for helping people.
