Local authorities in Mahrah have discussed gearing up to control and contain cholera, an epidemic raging in some parts of Yemen.

A local authority meeting was convened in the province yesterday moderated by first deputy governor Mokhtar bin Oweidh in this respect.

The meeting reviewed the rate of infection in Mahrah, which were reported from the main Ghaydhah Hospital to be nine cases.

The meeting affirmed the importance of ensuring that all health centers be on alert to receive infection cases and control them too firmly not to spread further.

The meeting also highlighted the need to raise public awareness about cholera prevention methods.
