German Berghof helps Yemen re-build institutions

Minister of Local Administration Abdulraqeeb Fath discussed on Wednesday with Program Director at Berghof Foundation Oliver Wils supporting local development programs in Yemen and boosting local authority to realize security and stability.
Fath, who is also the Chairman of the Supreme Relief Committee, highlighted such projects and praised the foundation and other German agencies for supporting development in the country.
He emphasized on contribution of improving service and development projects in Yemen, especially under these conditions the country is experiencing.
The two officials discussed boosting stability project in two governorates to be chosen in accordance with standards defined by the government in cooperation with Berghof. The project aims at enhancing regulations of local authority institutions via supporting bodies of local government to be carried out by the foundation.
Interested German agencies will also support limited stability projects through supporting and encouraging, as well as implementing measures and procedures targeting service and development projects within the framework of local authority.
The discussed projects, which worth € 4.3 million, aim at boosting stability in the two chosen governorates through supporting active local bodies and local governance systems, in addition to supporting implementation of service and development projects aiming at stabilizing locals' living conditions.
These projects will help building and rehabilitating the destroyed infrastructure.
