RIYADH - SABA
The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Sheikh Othman Mujalli met today, Tuesday, with the Chargé d' Affaires of the United States Embassy in the Republic of Yemen Neil Hopp.
They conferred over range of topical issues, including Yemeni-American bilateral relations and cooperation, issues of common interest, ongoing efforts to combat Houthi terrorism and piracy, protect waterways in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, as well as cut off Iranian smuggling and supply lines to the Houthis of weapons, money and drugs.
Mujalli praised the significant American role in curbing Iranian terrorism and its proxies in the region.
Iran has worked over the past years to establish terrorist bases in the region and Yemen, he remarked.
The PLC's member blamed the Iranian regime for dedicating its resources to promote terrorism through sponsoring the terrorist Houthi militias, sectarian groups and supporting al-Qaeda and ISIS, providing them with logistical and financial support to destabilize Yemen and threaten the region.
