Yemen, IOM Discuss Aligning Interventions with Government Priorities

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba met on Monday in the temporary capital, Aden, with Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Yemen Abdul Sattar Issyov to discuss the organization's interventions during the past period and its priority plan for 2026.

The meeting reviewed mechanisms to enhance coordination and partnership between the ministry and the organization in implementing programs and projects in humanitarian action, recovery, resilience building and migration management, in support of government efforts and sustainable development goals.

Minister Al-Zuba praised the role played by the IOM in Yemen and the level of cooperation with the government, stressing the importance of directing interventions toward national priorities and strengthening integration between humanitarian efforts and development programs to achieve sustainable impact in improving services and supporting the most vulnerable communities.

She also reviewed the latest developments in preparing the National Development Plan for 2027-2029, highlighting the importance of aligning development partners' programs and interventions with government priorities and enhancing institutional coordination to improve project implementation efficiency and achieve tangible development outcomes.

For his part, the IOM Chief of Mission in Yemen said the organization would continue implementing integrated, multi-sectoral interventions in close coordination with the government, including development, rehabilitation and humanitarian response projects.

He affirmed the organization's support for national government priorities, particularly in improving basic services, promoting stability, supporting recovery and advancing sustainable development.
