Minister of Interior Major General Ibrahim Haidan discussed on Monday with US Embassy Security Attaché to Yemen David Schott and Legal Attaché Karen Chastain expanding bilateral security cooperation and strengthening joint efforts to combat terrorism.

The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism, advancing training and professional development for Ministry of Interior personnel, and supporting the operational capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard to improve its readiness and effectiveness.

During the meeting, attended by the Ministry's Inspector General Major General Dr. Fayez Ghallab, Haidan highlighted the ministry's ongoing efforts to reinforce security and stability across government-controlled areas.

He also reviewed recent achievements by security forces in tracking down and arresting terrorist operatives, criminal networks, and individuals involved in unlawful activities.

The minister underscored the importance of continued coordination with international partners to strengthen the institutional and operational capacities of Yemen's security agencies, enabling them to better address security threats, combat terrorism, and tackle organized crime.

For his part, Schott reaffirmed the United States' commitment to deepening security cooperation with Yemen's Ministry of Interior.

He said Washington would continue supporting capacity-building initiatives, training programs, and professional development efforts aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of Yemen's security institutions and contributing to long-term security and stability in the country.
