Yemen's Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the UN agencies in Rome, Asmahan al-Toqi, has called for urgent, flexible, and predictable funding to support humanitarian operations in Yemen, stressing the need to expand emergency food assistance to reach the country's most vulnerable populations.

Speaking at the opening of the annual session of the Executive Board of the World Food Programme (WFP), al-Toqi emphasized the importance of strengthening the humanitarian response to address the growing needs of the Yemeni people amid the continuing humanitarian and economic challenges facing the country.

She underscored the critical role of local ownership in developing sustainable, long-term solutions, noting that nationally driven approaches are essential to achieving lasting progress in food security and resilience.
