The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, held a joint meeting today, Monday, with the National Defense Council, (NDC) in the presence of all its members: Sultan al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Othman Majli, Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Salem al-Khanbashi.

Prime Minister Returns to Aden After Short Official Visit to Cairo

Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani returned Monday to the interim capital, Aden, following a short official visit to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt.

During the visit, the ninth session of the Yemeni-Egyptian Strategic Dialogue was held, chaired by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on the Yemeni side, and by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdulati on the Egyptian side.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors, preparations for convening the Joint Higher Committee, as well as issues related to the security of the Red Sea, freedom of international navigation, and shared regional challenges.

The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also met with Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madboli, where they discussed prospects for bilateral partnership, activating economic and investment cooperation, and supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts to restore state institutions and achieve stability.

The talks also addressed facilitating conditions for members of the Yemeni community and those traveling to Egypt for medical treatment and education.

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) upon his arrival at Aden International Airport, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister affirmed that the discussions in Cairo were fruitful and constructive, reflecting the deep historical and strategic ties between Yemen and Egypt.

He noted that both sides shared common views on issues of mutual concern, foremost among them geopolitical and security coordination to protect international navigation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and confronting threats affecting Arab national security.

Dr. Zindani further stated that the Egyptian leadership renewed its firm support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, expressing full readiness to provide political, diplomatic, and developmental support, as well as share expertise in infrastructure development.

He also praised the facilities provided to the Yemeni community in Egypt and commended the high level of coordination and cooperation between the two brotherly countries, along with their mutual commitment to further strengthening ties in a way that serves shared interests.
