Chairman of Shura Council Discusses Political, Economic Developments with U.S. Ambassador

Chairman of the Shura Council, Dr. Ahmed Obaid Bin Daghr discussed on Wednesday with the US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin the latest political, economic, and humanitarian developments in Yemen.

Regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability were also discussed.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the challenges facing Yemen amid the ongoing crisis and its impact on living and economic conditions.

They emphasized the importance of supporting the Yemeni government and state institutions in a way that contributes to strengthening stability and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.

Dr. Bin Daghr praised the role played by the United States in supporting Yemen and its leadership, as well as backing international efforts aimed at achieving peace.

He also commended the American positions supporting the security and stability of Yemen and the region, and Washington’s commitment to advancing political solutions and ending the war.

The Chairman of the Shura Council also praised the significant role of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its continuous efforts to support the Yemeni government politically, economically, and humanitarianly, in addition to its contributions to strengthening security and stability in liberated areas and supporting peace initiatives.

During the meeting, the Chairman welcomed the signing of the recent prisoner and detainee exchange agreement held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, which includes the release of approximately 1,728 detainees and abductees.

He described the step as a positive development that enhances the atmosphere of trust and paves the way for further humanitarian measures to ease the suffering of Yemeni families.

For his part, the US Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s support for the government of Yemen and its efforts to achieve stability, as well as the United States’ commitment to continuing support for peace efforts in coordination with regional and international partners.
