Al-Subaihi Praises British Support for Yemen

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi celebrated the Yemeni-British historical relations, highly appreciating the British role in supporting Yemen's stability and backing the political and humanitarian process

He voiced his remark today during via video call with the British Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Abda Sharif.

The conversations dealt with the bilateral relations between the two countries, the political, humanitarian and security situations and joint coordination on issues of common interest.

Al-Subaihi stated that the humanitarian file represents a top priority for the government amid current economic challenges and difficult living conditions, stressing the importance of enhancing international support for basic services, particularly health, education, and food security.

The PLC's Member underscored the pressing need for doubling international efforts to push the peace process and achieve a comprehensive political settlement in accordance with internationally agreed references.

Al-Sobhi underlined the security challenges facing Yemen and the threats to international navigation security in the Red Sea, highlighting the importance of strengthening cooperation with the British government in the fields of coast guard, counterterrorism, combating smuggling and human trafficking.

The British Ambassador stated that the United Kingdom is interested in supporting Yemen in various fields and in contributing to UN and regional efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable truce and a comprehensive political settlement.
