King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center inaugurated a new water project in Taiz Governorate on Saturday involving the construction of three deep groundwater wells, as part of ongoing efforts to secure a lasting supply of safe drinking water for the city’s population. The project is being carried out by Human Access with financial support from the center.

Under the initiative, the three wells will each be drilled to approximately 400 meters and fitted with submerged pumps and associated technical equipment. Each site will also be powered by complete solar energy systems to maintain operations and reduce dependence on conventional fuel.

The programme further includes upgrading three already existing wells through the installation of solar-powered operating systems to boost their performance and efficiency.

As part of the project, technical personnel from the local water corporation in Taiz will receive training on managing, operating and maintaining the facilities to ensure reliable long-term service. Public awareness activities are also planned to encourage proper water use and safeguard water sources from contamination.

The project is part of a wider package of humanitarian and development initiatives provided by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to strengthen water and environmental sanitation services and improve access to potable water in underserved areas of Taiz governorate.
