Minister of Public Health and Population and Chairman of the Supreme Board of the Yemen High Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, Qassem Buhaibeh, inaugurated on Monday in the interim capital Aden the first intensive training course on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and inspection of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

The course, organized by the authority through its Training and Continuing Education Department, aims in its first week-long phase to qualify 40 participants from the authority and its branches in governorates.

It focuses on equipping them with modern knowledge and skills in evaluating and monitoring pharmaceutical factories in line with internationally recognized standards, ensuring drug quality and safety.

In a statement to Saba, Minister Buhaibeh underscored the importance of the program in strengthening national capacities, stressing that developing inspection and evaluation skills is a cornerstone for ensuring the quality of medicines circulating in the local market.

He noted that the authority plays a pivotal role in regulating the pharmaceutical market and maintaining its stability through oversight of manufacturing, import, and distribution processes, thereby safeguarding public health and ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines.

For his part, Deputy Executive Director of the authority, Abu Bakr Baabad, said the training aligns with the authority’s strategic plan to build the capacity of its technical staff and enable them to carry out pharmaceutical inspection tasks efficiently in accordance with the latest international guidelines.
