Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani received Wednesday United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments on the Yemeni scene, as well as regional developments and their impact on the course of the crisis.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the UN Envoy’s visit, expressing his appreciation for the efforts being made to advance the political process and his keenness to continue coordination in a way that supports de-escalation efforts and the achievement of peace.
The UN Envoy reviewed the outcomes of his recent movements and the ongoing efforts to revive the political process, including progress in the detainee exchange file.
He affirmed the United Nations’ continued commitment to reaching a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Yemeni crisis.
The meeting also addressed developments in the region and their impact on Yemen, along with the associated challenges.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of dealing with these changes through a balanced approach that safeguards national interests and enhances opportunities for stability.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to push forward the prisoner and detainee exchange file and to secure the release of UN staff and all detainees, considering it a humanitarian issue with no justification and one that cannot be delayed.
