Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training Dr. Anwar al-Mahri met Tuesday with the National Coordinator of the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education Dr. Amjad Samir.
The two parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation to develop the technical and vocational education system and enhance its overall quality.
The meeting, attended by the Deputy Minister for the Quality Sector, Dr. Ahmed Kulaib, addressed the importance of implementing specialized reform projects within the sector.
These include developing strategic policies to improve institutional performance and updating educational and training curricula in line with modern standards and labor market needs across various specializations.
Dr. al-Mahri affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with relevant and supporting entities to strengthen the educational and training process within upcoming development plans.
This, he noted, would contribute to qualifying youth and transforming them into effective human capital that supports the national economy.
He pointed out that the technical and vocational education sector has faced difficult circumstances in recent years, which requires concerted efforts to overcome challenges and keep pace with developments by establishing clear policies, updating curricula in line with modern changes, and making optimal use of national competencies.
For his part, the Center’s Coordinator expressed readiness to expand areas of cooperation with the Ministry in a way that contributes to achieving institutional excellence and improving the outcomes of technical and vocational education.
